Transchaco Route - Ņandu

HA.GO 03.01: A BRIEF VISIT TO THE CHACO

Just before sunrise, we will leave Asuncion to a very brief escape to the FASCINATING PARAGUAYAN CHACO. The trip will take us along the Trans Chaco highway, where we will see infinity of wild birds (storks, geese, wild ducks, and many more) as well as the exuberant vegetation of the Bajo (Lower) Chaco. Caacupe - Distant view of the Church

HA.GO. 02.03: CENTRAL OR GOLDEN CIRCUIT, ONE DAY

On this tour of a whole day we will visit the mayor towns around the capital. We will be able to see: the neo-gothic church in San Lorenzo, handicrafts of Ita, the franciscan temple at Yaguaron, the cordilleran sights with its crystalline brooks of Paraguari and Piribebuy. The spiritual capital of Caacupe with its basilica and the picturesque road to Tobati are part of this trip. We will make a brief stop at San Bernardino on the shore of the legendary Ypacarai Lake. On our way back we will see the Ņanduti and Aho-poi crafts.

HA.GO 02.05: YBYCUI NATIONAL PARK, ONE DAY

Departure from Asuncion. On this tour we will also take a few minutes to appreciate Ita's local crafts and the Franciscan temple of Yaguaron. In the town of Carapagua we will enter a road which leads us to the Ybycui National Park, distant 144 Kms from Asuncion. We will visit the old ironworks ion of La Rosada. At a short distance, we will walk along the Mina brook, which will show us in its 14 stations the Mina Waterfall, the Stone Wall, the Ax Stone, the Cliff of Fear, several Springs, the Natural Swimming Pool and the exuberant vegetation. In the afternoon, we return to Asuncion.

Aregua - Potery

HA.GO 02.08: ONE DAY HANDICRAFT TOUR

A special tour for fans of the national craftsman manual skill. We will visit Ita and its ceramics; in Itaugua we will see the fine spider web like tissues of Ņanduti and Aho-poi . After a short voyage on a road through some rocky elevations of a capturing natural beauty, passing several brickworks we reach Tobati. Here we will see fine works carved in native woods by local artisans. On the way coming back, wewill see the beautiful colonial summer resort city of Aregua is the center of a great variety of ceramic crafts. Luque, our last stop, is known for its fine filigree gold and silver jewelry and its worldwide-recognized manual production of highest standard harps and guitars. Return to Asuncion.

Later we will arrive to the former German colony of San Bernardino for a look on the Ypacarai Lake; continuing our tour we will visit the Basilica of the Virgin Of The Miracles in Caacupe : the town therefore has the nickname of The Spiritual City Of Paraguay. After a short voyage on a road through some rocky elevations of a capturing natural beauty, passing several brickworks we reach Tobati. Here we will see fine works carved in native woods by local artisans. Return to Asuncion.

Church of Piribebuy

HA.GO 02.06: ONE DAY ON A TYPICAL FARM IN PIRIBEBUY

In the morning, we leave Asuncion. The way offers stops at the mythological museum of Capiata, the Ņanduti tissues in Itaugua, and the basilica at Caacupe. Before noon, we will arrive to the heroic city of Piribebuy; after a brief tour and we finally leave for a farm distant 4 kms from the city, There You can participate in the daily activities (milk the cows, collect eggs, feed the cattle, etc.). Apart from the animals named above, you will also observe ducks, goose, turkeys, ornamental chicken, guineas, sheep, pigs, and other domestic animals. Wild birds are all around, and if you wish, you may go on a horse ride. During summer, you may take with You Your swimming clothes, as a crystal-clear brook with many small waterfalls runs trough the farm in an extension of 600 meters. The farm also has a fruit crop of more than 1000 trees, where you can gather and eat the fruits of the season as much as you want. In the afternoon, we return to Asuncion.
